g, i didn't realize you were discussing the theoretical when you first posted to me.

the free market, as you envision it, it impossible. human greed will stamp it out once someone gets powerful enough to do so.

my view is that it is as silly to talk about this mythical "free market" improving health care as it is to talk about the tooth fairy improving dentistry.

i do agree it would probably better than the current system, though. i do not agree that it would be better for everyone. the free market creates winners and losers, and loss in health care can be the difference between life and death.
