>>His knee jerk reaction to the 'Cambridge arrest incidence'
is worrisome.<<

A bit. He's gotta realize he's president now, and everything he says is under the microscope.

That said, EVERY close black male friend I have over the age of 15 has had the experience of being stopped without cause by police. Bar none. And it's both terrifying and extremely anger-provoking when it happens due to the potential lethality of the encounter.

That said, the police have an extremely dangerous job. In the case in question, they were called by a neighbor reporting a possible burglary. In that situation they have to expect the worse, it's a "crime in progress" scenario. The ideal situation would have been for the homeowner to role play for a second and realize why the officer was there. Follow directions promptly and courteously, until the situation is clarified. That's common sense, which apparently the black Professor was sorely lacking.......

IMO, this situation has been blown massively out of proportion (by Obama with help of the press), and it's not the place to make some sort of statement on race relations. There are many better examples for that...<NG>

For those who could see the big picture, the Cambridge response was not a surprise at all, just a verification.
