Here's my take on it.

The initiative process is stupid. People are ignorant when they vote for politicians, but they can do even more stunning damage when they vote for initiatives.

As for the cuts- well, it will suck. Our classes will be huge, and students won't get the supplies they need. Our colleges will keep running- but it's going to be hard to people to afford to go. The Regents jacked up the UC tuition 10% this year. Cost per unit at the community college is DOUBLING.

I think Californians are getting what they deserve though- they want handouts, but they don't want to pay for them. It is my hope that every idiot who voted from more largesse, but voted "no" on tax cuts, will now suffer some pain when these cuts roll down to them.

It's highly ironic that the prisons won't suffer much. I'm hoping we legalize drugs and clear out the prisons, so we can spend the money on something a little more healthy- like education and health.
