gg cox, I appreciate that you are a proud Canadian, and that you are proud of the fact that your country was able to implement a health care system with which most of your citizens seem to be, generally, happy.

However, Canada is a much more European nation that the US. Europeans traditionally have strong, centralized governments. Sometimes that worked well for them, but many times those strong governments would get out of control, and things would end up, as we all know, in disaster.

The US is not like that. The entire nation was founded on the idea of limited government. Indeed, it was founded as a counterstatement to the European tradition. And you know what? -- it worked for us. Most of us are not ready to give up yet.

There are many different ways to solve problems -- and the way of Big Government is simply NOT the American way.
