why doesn't the gov just buy everyone a car ? Then the numbers will go way up

We're needing our kitchen remodeled. Why doesn't the government pay for it. I would go ahead and do it if they'd give me, maybe, $10,000.

Maybe not EVERYONE, but just those unable to afford a car NOW! A car greatly expands the number of jobs a person can take, and where those jobs can be located.
