Our family lore includes a trip to West Yellowstone in 1985 or so. I was in money saving mode and nixed dinner at the local steak place. We ended up eating at a hole in the wall that had a sign that said "Cafe Eat." Ended up with lousy chicken fried steak and were entertained by a drunk in the corner playing a guitar.

It took a while for Mrs. Smithee to forgive me for our "Cafe Eat" experience.

There was a chef here in my town that cooked so well people came from miles and miles to eat what he prepared. He was really famous for his chili, but I always ordered his liver and onions. He keeled over one day cooking breakfast in the diner. I have been looking for that meal ever since. One of my dear friends has been able to duplicate it. I need to ask her to fix me liver and onions. ;)
