" Contrast that with the stories we hear out of Canada and England where people are being denied life saving treatment."

As a Canadian over 60, I have to suggest you investigate alternative sources of information. I have had 3 surgeries, suffered with arthritis for about 12 years, not to mention what doctor's have referred to as "severe" degenerative disc disease, I can attest to minimal difficulties receiving excellent care with just minor waiting times.

My wife and other relatives have been unfortunate enough to have experienced cancer, but fortunate enough to receive the necessary care to survive, and now think of it as a distant memory. Twenty two years for my wife.

It's not perfect, but I sure wouldn't trade with you.

Cheers,

That is a crock of shit and you know it. The system might not be perfect, but everyone has access. Here in the US, either you must have insurance, money or be dying to get health care. As for insurance company, they do not give a shit about your nor me all they care about is how much return can they get on their investment and their shareholders.

The whole fiasco about O's health care plan is he is cutting out the insurance companies. He is giving the people a choice go to do what they please. I do not see what is wrong for every American to have access to medical services. After all, we are the greatest nation on earth alas our poorest can't get medical care unless they are dying and the middle class is finding harder and harder to pay for medical insurance.

I had excellent medical coverage while working. I have just gone on Medicare and remain on my old employer's drug plan which is better than what Medicare offers. But I consider myself part of a lucky minority.

My criticism of the US health system does not reflect my personal experience but the fact that so many are uninsured or underinsured, and US citizens die earlier on average than people in western Europe and Canada. Plus the US spends much more on health per capita than Europe, Japan, and Canada. Many Americans are forced into bankruptcy by health care bills -- this is unheard of in other advanced economies.
