Gold is indeed a uniquely unattractive long-term investment, particularly in the United States. Jay does have a singular focus which could probably be put to better uses. Due to the lack of income taxes in Hong Kong, and the greater risk of asset seizure by Chinese authorities, gold makes somewhat more sense in his situation. It's why he and his family also has a Canadian passports. Some gold bugs are hoping gold will act like it did during the 1930s and they are in for a serious disappointment. .
