If you are a supporter of single government payer, why would the public option be so important to you?

And in the end it may become so watered down you may support it.

I would not support watered down legislation. This is how we get tons of garbage regulations on the books.

The basic problem here is one of differing objectives. I would embrace legislation that really addressed the problem that Obama started with -- health care that costs too much. But no legislation which doesn't address tort reform and the massive costs of malpractice/defensive medicine will even meet the laugh test.

It would be interesting if we switched sides.

That would be strange, indeed.
