It's not what Medicare paid them, it's what they billed the patient......look around their are a lot of em.....it's not unusual to be billed 11-12K for a 3 day stay in the hospital....

The surgeons are pulling our chain they know damn well what he was talking about and their charges which the taxpayers pick when they write off the difference between their bill and what Medicare pays them.... I'll bet surgeons and such pay very little income tax.

Yesterday during a town hall meeting, President Obama got his facts completely wrong. He stated that a surgeon gets paid $50,000 for a leg amputation when, in fact, Medicare pays a surgeon between $740 and $1,140 for a leg amputation. This payment also includes the evaluation of the patient on the day of the operation plus patient follow-up care that is provided for 90 days after the operation. Private insurers pay some variation of the Medicare reimbursement for this service.

Can you imagine a surgeon performing an amputation for $740?

I paid a goofy-assed tree service that to cut down a dead mimosa tree this week.

And they want to cut it further.

This kind of nonsense is the reason Obama has totally BLOWN the opportunity to make meaningful improvements to our health care system.

He is an abject failure.
