"Don't tell me Obama's desire to eliminate Medicare Advantage is a "cost savings" measure. That's just an attempt to hasten the demise of private health insurance."

Clearly these proposals that are under consideration are designed to starve out the private insurance providers....if not outright eliminate them.

I believe the age-old 80/20 rule applies to health care like it applies to many other things. 80% is routine health care and 20% is where the shit hits the fan.

I also believe that profit-motivated, competitive private enterprise can deliver insurance more efficiently and at less cost than government can do.

I keep hearing...and I'm hearing it right now as I write this from Obama and other liberals tell story after story of the 20% of cases where the shit hits the fan.

I don't hear anything about the routine 80% where everything is working just fine....thank you.

I propose that private industry manage the 80% of health care and insurance because they can handle it more efficiently than anyone else......and when the shit hits the fan, deep-pockets government takes over to appease the liberals.

There is no need to vilify private insurance companies as is being done right now by Obama....I'm getting sick of it.

>Perhaps you can tell me exactly what is "on the table" that can reduce costs over the long term.

The biggest is the public option. It will keep the private companies honest, saving people money, and also will give people that currently have medical insurance the ability to seek preventative care rather than only getting emergency care.
