Sonki;
I personally have no knowledge re: IBM takeover, other than a few posters have speculated this.
However, there has been speculation of a takeover on the FORE thread (LU and Nortel) and on the Ascend thread. IMHO if there is to be a takeover we will not read about it on a public forum such as this until it is a done.

However, at the lower price today it must be more attractive as a buy out. The same could be said of FORE and Ascend.

regards,

Ray

Any takeover is unlikely at this point. The news seems to be all out.

Now they should get their stock repurchase program back in gear. Ed was explicit at the shareholders meeting that insiders can trade from the third day after the earnings announcement until the first day of the last month of the quarter and I guess that includes the treasurer trading for the company's account. Over a million ESPP shares will be issued Monday and they still have authorization to buy about 4.5 million shares. At recent prices, they could get them all for the same money they paid for 2.5 million shares two years ago. Whatever reasoning applied then must surely apply now.

Tomorrow should be an up day. On the other hand, Ed is still the CEO, Bo is still the COO, there is still no permanent CFO, and this quarter will be another loser. They mustn't lose the urgency!

Sonki, you are right. Look for an announcement tomorrow or Friday.
This IBM rumor keeps circulating.

To quote Ed McCracken at today's stockholders meeting, "The company is not for sale."
