"The Emancipation Proclamation didn't end slavery"

YES it DID!!!!

Do you REALLY think that the 13th Amendment WOULDN'T have passed AFTER Lincoln's proclamation?? Even if Lincoln hadn't died it would have passed.

"No it didn't"

If you think not being able to eat in a restaurant with white people isn't slavery or not being able to drink out of the same fountain as white people isn't slavery or think that having to ride in the back of a bus isn't slavery then I guess you're right.

If you ever find yourself in that position Tim, it will be nice to know you won't complain about it on "technical terms".

In 1935 Germany a lot of Jews felt the same way as you seem to. "Hey, they seem to treat us differently and it's tougher to get a job but it's only a technicality".
