Agreed. CDSL is a lot of noise without substance. Far more technically and marketing savy companies than Rockwell are into DSL. This is just another Me Too product like IDSL, something to distact people from their inept K56Flex product.

Rockwell ruined Zoom and their brethern, with a little help from US Robotics and Texas Instruments. I'd be very, very cautious before anticipating a future for Zoom that depends on a Rockwell product. The spin-off of the non-electronics businesses by Rockwell may well have been a carefully crafted plan to save them by separating them from the suffering electronics group.

Also, don't let the balance sheet fool you, folks. It's improving because they have freed up working capital due to lack of profit generating business. That is a bad thing, not a good thing. There is no practical bottom until they cease losing money.

Scrapps, didn't any of you people on the thread listen to the CC. The analyst from Cowen & Company covered CDSl questions with Frank Manning already. If you listened you would have learned that AOL will have 56kflex up in over 175 cities by Nov 15 and over 300 cities by December. UUnet will have 56kflex running by December. That means MSN will be offering 56kflex. Also the video camera will begin shipping in the next two weeks. ZOOM ISDN modems are also receiving good orders in Europe. Manning also said that is getting good results from the joint ads with Erols that were airing during the World Series

Rockwell is not the first player. The big shark is Lucent. People still do not realize how big and powerful is Lucent: It is more powerful than all the rest (COMS, CSCO, CS, BAY, etc) taken together. Since Lucent has chosen 56flex, it will be 56flex. USR simply does not have the horsepower to fight with Lucent.
