Bob, you posted: I do not support a VAT because it is a hidden tax. I would support a gasoline tax or a national sales tax like Canada.

The national sales tax in Canada is a VAT. It is not hidden.

Well Bearcat;

We have tangled in the past, but I find myself in agreement with most of your list.

I differ only on;

1) McCain reversed himself - so he gets credit for nothing in my book. You give him credit if you want, but the man lost all my respect when he caved in to the Cristian Coalition. Not the sign of a leader - and I donated to his campaign when he was running against Bush.

2) No Opinion - things change

3 through the first #7) - complete agreement

7) The second #7 - This is the only one I have complete disagreement with. You have to give him a chance. If after a couple of years he is unable to demonstrate accomplishments - then maybe you will be right. Way too soon to jump on the man given he was handed two wars and an economy in freefall. Changing those things overnight is just not going to happen under any leader. I like most of the little changes Obama has done where he has been able to make the decision on his own. So far he has not been great with congress, but he has in the past learned from early mistakes and I am hopeful he does so again.
