"I know of people right now who draw more in unemployment than they could make. "Why would I go to work when I make 400/wk on unemployment?" "

No, you don't. Unemployment pays some fraction of what you formerly made in the base period - which is a year before you filed. More uninformed Dave asstalk.

"How much? In general, unemployment benefits are based on an individual's earnings in the base period. As of December, 2008, AR benefits ranged from $73 to $409. Arkansas state unemployment benefits are subject to Federal income taxes, and you may elect to have taxes withheld from your unemployment check."

If Bill Gates were laid off in Arkansas, he could collect $409.00 a week!
