"You don't have a clue how the industry works."

Apparently, I have MUCH more of "a clue" than you do. Any manager worth his salt will have been TRAINED to fire, give raises to and promote people based on how they contribute to a corporation's profitability. They'll also have been TRAINED to do it without revealing the real reasons - there are any number of phony reasons that can be given in at-will employment America.

How do I know? I've recieved the training! Part of my management training (at a software company) was evaluating my employees costs to our health insurance (my company was self insured) and determining whether they were worth keeping on the payroll. If they got too expensively sick, I was to find some way to get them to quit or to give them the boot, other than the health care costs!

In a health insurance company, how the clerks that ration health care contribute to the bottom line is measured by the number of sick people they drop, the number of claims they deny, the number of people they steer to cheaper courses of treatment, etc.

You're either a willfully blind shill or a naive moron.
