We contracted with the oil companies. Lots of oil companies wanted those contracts. the oil companies fought our permanent fund every step of the way. And 12 legislators have been indicted in hte last couple of years for takign bribes from the oil companies. All Republican's! It was our oil!! We now put 50% of all of our resource money into our permanent fund. Why did Texas or other states do what we did? they had lots of oil.
