Don, > Obama sure did "squander" something...he spent more than a millisecond assuming there was some intelligence out there in the repug base.

With a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, a mainstream media that's still on his side, and a social crisis that hasn't yet gone to waste (tm Rahm Emanuel), it's surprising to see Obama not as enthusiastic about pushing America toward single-payer like he originally intended.

Either he really is thin-skinned, or he's afraid that his ideas might actually not work very well in practice.
