My experience on Tuesday:
No access to E*Trade trading screens via internet during trading hours. Tried probably 50 times. About as expected. Did not think to try via Compuserve.

Got through to Schwab.com web site a couple times, among maybe 20 tries, and was able to place one order.

Was able to get through about one time in two to Schwab (not eSchwab) using their Streetsmart software. It ran slow and tossed me off a couple of times, but I was able to place orders and check executions, etc. This method of trading costs about 5x eSchwab and 10x E*Trade for stocks. For these prices they should have some capacity.

Somebody on another thread said they could trade using Fidelity and their FOX direct dial software. If anybody can confirm this about the FOX software, I may switch. I read that the Fidelity website had problems.

Re compensation: Good luck, but have you read your agreement with Schwab?
