Caligula, Nero and I reject the concept of weak morality in past ages. <G>

Skeeter,

I think you can demonstrate many areas of improvement over the centuries heading into the last century. The last century looks bad because of the world wars, but what happened was that we became way more efficient at killing each other because of technology. Populations were also so massively higher (making the absolute numbers higher).

Just as a note, there was common denominator to the evil of the last century. Both the fascists (right) and communists/socialists (left) "wanted to expand the power of government" in different ways. But both exterminated their political opponents (and others) and waged war against their neighbors. You would think people would have woken up by now and exterminated anyone in government trying to expand its powers in any way, shape, or form. ;-)

But both the left and right today think they know the right way to expand it and are willing to lie, cheat, steal, destroy people and even the country to maintain power. Bunch of sickos IMHO.

IMO in recent decades we started heading back into a moral cesspool in ways other than war. That's what I was referring to. That comes from the left. However, the correct way to fight it is not with religion (the way the right tries to). The correct way is to use common sense, intelligence, statistics, etc... that often very clearly tell you right/wrong, better/worse, good/evil etc... Then you promote SUPERIOR behavior while creating no laws preventing free choice other than when there is almost unanimous agreement among people of sound mind etc...

Unfortunately, evil dominates the media too and that makes it difficult to unwind the disastrous values of the last few decades.
