Republicans want tort reforms. Democrats want to keep them the way they are. I am saying that they should be abolished altogether and instead be replaced by an agency such as the FDA. The FDA had worked quite well, not perfect. Tort gets us nowhere.

But is that politically possible? iF not, then the Obama folks need to take the issue of tort reform and explain it to the people why they are not for it. They have done a miserable job on this so far. What they are doing reminds me of how Dukakis ran his campaign on the assumption that the American people are smart enough to understand. We are once again seeing "the elite style of politics."
