Surprise quote of the day -

--

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of laissez-faire, unbridled competition. They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the umbrella of federal regulations."

-- Sen. Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.

Sadly, he only seemed to apply this logic to transportation, not to education or health care.

No, my speakers been on the fritz. I haven't heard it.

Did he say how much of his family fortune he'd spent on health care for people being ruined by catastrophic illnesses?

BTW I had a cousin die of pancreatic cancer last year. Not employed, no insurance. He wasn't denied healthcare - he petitioned his doctors and hospital, provided copies of tax returns showing little income, and they cut their rates. Did him little good health wise as he died anyway.
