First you tell us this..

<<BTW I had a cousin die of pancreatic cancer last year. Not employed, no insurance. He wasn't denied healthcare - he petitioned his doctors and hospital, provided copies of tax returns showing little income, and they cut their rates. Did him little good health wise as he died anyway>>

Then you tell us this..

<< told my wife I'd probably have to help out when I heard his diagnosis. But turned out not to be necessary. After his death, he turned out to be not as destitute as thought. My Mom paid his final medical bills out of his estate with plenty left over.

I think the facts are that he could have coughed up the money he was hiding and put it toward paying his way.

Then you admit..

<<"gaming the system" - not completely unfair, the docs didn't know all his assets. >>

so must be partially a fair statement he could have paid but didn't.

The facts as told by you speak for themselves, i have no need to accuse your cousin of anything.

<<I am sure I get only what is ordinary health care treatment for Americans>>

You are getting what the "tip of the ice berg " gets as Kennedy described ...all the rest can go bankrupt or kiss Rush Limbo's ass.<g>
