I do think that everyone acts in a way that they believe benefits them. I also believe that in the vast majority of the population, they act in a way that they think is in the balance "good". However, I do think that there are times when people lose sight of their core values for immediate gratification. In the case of journalists like Sam Donaldson, I think that there is a certain amount of enjoyment of (or potential enjoyment of) their 15 minutes in the spotlight. In other words, the journalists are no longer journalists, but see themselves as celebrities...or worse yet, change agents.
