CNN actually had a piece today about electric cars drag racing today. It was a bit humorous.

The old S10 electrics had very good acceleration. It was rated at 110 HP, but with max torque before even spinning up they accelerated like mad dogs. Much more so than the gas engine version. Didn't get good range though. Supposed to be 80 miles, but was more like 40 or 50 after a couple of years.
