Engineering is not a discipline usually associated with environmental studies--although civil engineering usually studies how their projects may effect the local environment.

But the point was if this thread is going to be anything more than "is so" vs. "is not" than I think science has to be involved.

I grant you that the modeling is just that--modeling--and one can talk about its limitations, but don't you think that is better than nothing?
