The solution is not to nuke anything. The solution is to rectify the errors made by decolonization after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire.

We propped up all of these petty tribal chieftains and made them enormously rich by developing the natural resources of their kingdoms. US policy has always been one of stability over democratization in these countries so there is little governmental accountability to the people's needs.

So we suffer from all of their disenfranchised young people, having no prospects for a decent future, turning to reactionary fanatics promising them the glories of paradise.

Ultimately, we're suffering from our failure to facilitate social progress and change throughout the middle east.

Democracy, messy as it might be, is the only way to force these governments to be accountable to their people. Of course, it could back-fire and lead to the people following some Arab "Hitler" into a world war..
