This year they need gas money!!! Nations are friendly when they have economic needs. See the English case: Without N. Sea oil they are nice to Libya. No political games. We are trading nations.

Given the price of gas, and their need for cash, it's hardly surprising that they are figuring out that stopping deliveries of goods to customers leads to customers buying from more reliable and trustworthy suppliers who are less arrogant and stupid: <
Ukraine and Russia have agreed to prevent a “traditional” cutoff of gas to the rest of Europe during the coming New Year’s holiday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said Thursday.

“Both sides — Russia and Ukraine — agreed that for Christmas there won’t be the traditional stunts such as gas crises,” she said at a Cabinet session in Kiev.

Perhaps this Xmas, there will be a traditional boycott of Russian gas being delivered via Ukraine unless the price is cut by half.
