The one thing that surprised me by what Ken said was that he expected 4th quarter revenues to be lower than 3rd quarter. Was he managing expectations? I do not feel that this is a wise move and this statement will hurt the stock this morning.

Craig,

I am betting the oil company is Amoco. They tossed Fore out with an ATM implementation and have been looking for a substitute.

<<Well, it looks like you were right about the write-offs. Any idea which
adapters they are writing off?>>

I would only be guessing..perhaps IBM microchannel, Mac???

<<It is a record revenue number, but they missed the Kinnard estimate by a little bit. I'm surprised by the extent of the loss, even after backing out the special charges. (-.23 +.08 = -.15) That's an improvement, but not much.>>

Actually, the sales number did exceed the $3.5 million before taking the $150,000 reserve for product return..my guess is another reseller who was unsuccessful in selling their initial stocking order.

<<What are your thoughts on the $250,000 severance package? Is that all of it, or will there be more?>>

Probably O Hara's 2 year salary as per his employment contract. No idea of future severences.

<<I noticed that Ken said, "...the company delivered an order of GigWorks
Fibre Channel switches to a major oil company for use in geo-seismic
modeling application." I hope they expand on this during the conference
call. It would be interesting to know who this was, and what kind of
potential was there. We have heard oil-patch rumblings here for quite a
while, but no names have been attached.>>

Maybe there will be news around SEG???

<<Any thoughts on what Ken meant when he said, "...the timing of orders
and shipments will result in revenues varying from quarter to quarter."?
Could this mean that there are orders there that haven't shipped yet?>>

There is a VERY LARGE order which should either ship Q4 or Q1 98. My info suggests that the uncertainty is not IF but WHEN. I think they are suggesting the worst case scenerio, which again relates to my point about lowering expectations and the overhang of the lawsuit.
