Yeah. The US could have recovered quickly like all of the other countries in the world. You keep saying this; it is a very simplistic view and I have to think you know this. The U.S. economic decline was far worse than almost all other countries. So, how can you POSSIBLY claim that FDR's policy "worked"? Peak-to-trough Industrial Production by Country United States 46.8 % Poland 46.6 % Canada 42.4 % Czechoslovakia 40.4 % Germany 41.8 % Netherlands 37.4 % Italy 33.0 % Belgium 30.6 % France 31.3 % Argentina 17.0 % Denmark 16.5 % Great Britain 16.2 % Sweden 10.3 % Brazil 7.0 % Japan 8.5 % The reality is only the war got us out of the depression. And it wasn't just deficit spending. It was an entire attitude that turned around the kind of Dust Bowl mentality that was pervasive throughout America until Pearl Harbor.
