Tim, you're an optimist. Do you actually think that if the Earth's population approached 20 billion we could have "greater political and economic freedom"? In 100 years EVERY single person in the industrialized world will have every bit of their lives "on file" in one data base or another. EVERY move anybody makes outside their home will be recorded. And IF you DON'T fit the approven profile EVERY move you make WITHIN your home will be recorded. That's not paranoia or anything, it's just fact. TODAY I can use Google Earth to see my own car in front of my own house. If you don't think that's ONLY the beginning then you haven't followed the evolution of technology up to THIS point.
