There is at least as much evidence against soft drinks as there is against tobacco. If we feel it is okay to tax tobacco, cars, clothing, housing, income, why not comestibles that have ZERO positive contributions in healthy nutrition? I don't see the concern.

Soft drinks are less useful to our society than asbestos which actually has a legitimate use for some applications.

A debate on taxing soft drinks is coming up on CNBC as part of paying health care

We need sin taxes on sugar, high fructose corn syrup, what ever high calorie sweetener they come up to replace those, and hydrogenated fats.

We already do it on tobacco and booze.
