McCain's a "pragmatist". As recently as the Clinton Administration we still HAD some pragmatism in this Country. Since then it's been all downhill. We've given $2 Trillion for tax breaks for the wealthiest. We've thrown away $1 Trillion+ on a war in Iraq that will probably hurt us much more than help us. We've seen "pork barrel" politics rise to an art form. We've seen a "drug bill" that doesn't try to CUT drug prices but just puts the TAB on the taxpayers bill. The Stimulus was a lot MORE pork, but with a Democrat spin, (although the Repubs got their bucks in there too).
