Don't worry about butting in, I posted looking for help and any effort at assistance is appreciated. I can't seem to get my resolution to go to 1280 x 1024 without getting those black bars on the side, so I'm staying with the lower resolution. I thought I was on 1280 x 1024 prior to sending the machine to the shop, but who knows? Also windows has a setting for selecting the desktop environment and display properties. To get there right click on your desktop and select Properties, Appearance I'm using XP, and after Properties there is no Appearance option. Oh well.
