Everyone agrees that the current system is a "monstrosity". That is the whole issue. It would be great if you could just scrap the old system and do it over, but that is impossible.

Everyone agrees that something has to be done. That was what the last election was all about. You can't have a do over. You can just stall and wait for the next election. I am sure if that happens, the opposition next time around will use all the dirty tricks the opposition is using now plus adding some new tricks to stop anything from being done.

Obama has tried reaching out. I am not sure that Palin if she ever gets the chance will even try to do that.

Regardless, the current system can not be sustained.
