I already have an excellent insurance plan and plenty of assets accumulated over 30 years of work.

I appreciate the fact that the present system leaves people like me two steps from being being in a large size risk pool through my employer with good insurance to being sick unemployed and being in a risk pool as an individual with a pre existing condition.

Unless you are vested in paid employer medical insurance or already on Medicare I doubt your health care coverage is any better than mine.

I tend to think tying insurance to employment is a problem. I would much rather see a market based solution where insurance companies had to compete across the whole nation with similar basic programs. Everyone has to buy insurance and there are no exclusions for preexisting conditions.

I dont know too much about how Germany manages it but it seems like a good one to follow.

Amen. This bill will degrade health coverage for far more people than it will extend benefits to.

"But why the effort to destroy the health care I have?"

I asked essentially the same question of some liberals on a liberal thread a month or so ago and no one would answer it. That question really exposes the fact that a compassionate desire to help people isn't the driving force behind this.
