Therein lies the problem.

Those core beliefs are essentially -- ESSENTIALLY -- socialism. You can argue, correctly, that it isn't EXACTLY socialism, but we have moved that direction just as quickly as our political system could conceivably have allowed it.

It has become clear the American people do not want to be taken there, particularly with respect to their health care. I do not believe there has been issue in my lifetime where anything approaching the "town hall" meetings has occurred on a nationwide basis. Where you actually had conservatives and independents out marching in the streets against a president (liberals are constantly looking for excuses to protest).

Obama has seen a resurgence over the last couple days since his speech and there is more reason than ever to be pessimistic that what we're going to get is legislation that is an absolute pile of garbage just so the Ds can claim victory.

A lot of this health care debate centers around Obama's core beliefs.

And you apparently don't see anything wrong with the fact that it's being driven by beliefs rather than analysis.
