What makes you think that the Netbook makers are not making money? The components used are commodity and manufacturing in quantity are cheap.

aapl will be revising the macbook line with new models as low as $700 eventually. They have no choice.

Sinclap,

I have several friends who have netbooks and now regret that they bought them as they are less functional in many ways than my iPod Touch.

One has already converted his to a paperweight for his desktop as a reminder that cheap does not mean functional or valued!

As I have long used both wintel and macs, I would prefer to pay for the value that the mac represents, personally and professionally.

I agree with Alan, Apple should stay the course with their strategy until they can produce a valued product at a reasonable price point rather than produce paperweights and lose customer good will.
