I'm betting why they were really there was to cause some kind of outrage that Big Media could then blame on the rallyers. Nazi solutes, hanging in effigy, etc. Got tossed out before they could pull their prank.

ACORN gets caught selling Gadsden flags at 9/12 rally

I don't get it "Don't Tread on Me" is inoffensive...I would expect ACORN to be selling some kind of fascist flag at a tea party rally.
