So I ask a serious question and receive satire and sarcasm?

Seriously... We can all B&M about the excesses of the past decade, but we also need to think about what measures the government SHOULD take to insure that it's mandate to promote the "general welfare" is fulfilled.

I believe that when we have private market failure, the public market needs to step in (albeit temporarily) to buffer the negative impact, but also lay the groundwork for innovation and increased productivity.

The government exists to serve the people, not a bunch of economists with conflicting (and often wrong) theories.

What is NOT THEORETICAL is when human beings are not able to realize their potential and become burdens upon the rest of society.

So how do we get people working again in a manner that is an investment in our country's future, and not a hand-out doing "make work"?

I think it's an important question that needs to be addressed and not ignored with a bunch of hand-wringing and satire.
