To: ChinuSFO who wrote (62672 ) 9/21/2009 5:39:27 PM From: Mac Con Ulaidh Respond to of 149317 Curious healthcare day, then followed just now by hearing Chris Matthews thinking O is out of touch talking healthcare when the economy is what it is. methinks Matthews is missing how these things connect for people, but when has he ever worried of healthcare? anyways... the good health day was with my mother who has medicare and a good private doc. she got ill over the weekend, fever over 102 last night, tired started on saturday. so I wanted to know whether to get her in pronto if is swine flu to get that drug you need in 48 hours. so call into doc, who calls back and goes thru all the symtoms with us (including that after aspirin doses and a good sweat, her fever was normal by late morning) - he figures is a stomach bug, so rest and eat dry toast & apples etc for a few days. and course if fever and all had gone differnetly, she could have been in there for meds. the bad - the cleaners were here. 2 women who have their own business and clean biz's & houses, plus do windows and various things. they work long weeks & hours and do decently for themselves, but no insurance. one's daughter is having gallbladder problems and the doc of course wants to take it out. ya know the cost of that? and while she worked, I read up on it, and seems aside from a couple of drugs that 'might' make stones go away over a period of time, surgery is it, except for just going thru the attacks. but I did thru the reading come up with diet ideas from the reading. no more fast food, for one thing. but anyways... poor child has been in bed for two days in a fetal position from the pain and running a fever. it's the 2nd attack in 3 weeks. so if diet changes don't help, what can mom do but work out something in the budget to do surgery? but hospitals aren't very 'nice' these days about payment plans. but she is going home armed with a diet the child is going to follow, that does not include mcd's. after the pain she is in, making a healthy sandwich on high fiber bread and eating an apple might be delightful and mcd's make her cringe?
