Jim:

The so called reporters spread the rumor(s) using the powerful medias
and they cause panic and loss to small investors. I don't understand
how they get away with this kind of reporting. They spread the rumors
and make them as a big news. When they find out that they are not true they do not give the same kind of coverage they had given to the rumors! October is almost gone and hope that November brings in good
news and $$ to our pockets. Techs are strong during 3rd and 4th quarters and both DELL and CPQ do very well during these periods due
to lot of demand from govt's and businesses.

Regards,

I wonder if M.Dell has any tricks up his sleeve to stop this slide ??? Why would Alex Brown downgrade to a buy from a strong buy there must be something to it. Will DELL not meet the high end of that magic whisper number on Nov 16 ??? Also what is the difference between a "strong buy" and a "buy" ???

Thanks Jim, that was pretty much my take on the cost/pricing situaution.

As to low cost PC's, I have a somewhat different view. I think that demand will be heavy, but it will canibalize sales from their mid-range machines.

On the China front it seems that Clinton is hanging tough. He got a concession from China regarding their nuclear deals with Iran, and in addition China will "... acceed to the terms of the Information Technology Agreement signed last winter, which will eliminate China's steep tariff's on imported computer and telecommunications equipment." according to today's New York Times. In addition, "American companies will be given access to Chinese markets to build cleaner power plants, more efficient cars and rural power stations."

Regards,

Paul
