Apple has excellent health care. "Geniuses are under tremendous pressure to work while sick despite their public-facing role. I came down with the flu a couple of years ago and was pressured by my boss into returning to work before I’d quite recovered. A couple of days after returning, I relapsed even worse than before, and found myself being warned in writing for excessive absences, as someone somewhere up the chain considered this to be two sicknesses."
