The sales increase is tremendous and so is the loss.....the question is when will the sales turn into earnings? Anyone have any ideas on this subject?

I wouldn't be upset if AccMed would spend a little money on a new PR person! I agree that they should have tried to lay out their vision of the future in their press release.

I was waiting to see how the news services were going to cover the earnings release, but I haven't seen a thing. I was also hoping to read their SEC filing, but it hasn't been filed yet.

I was expecting somewhere between a 6› and 10› loss per share, so I was surprised by the 14› loss. The surprise appears to be directly related to a reduction of sales for this quarter compared to the last quarter. If the sales for this quarter's revenue had equaled last quarter's, then the loss per share would have been only 8›.

The CEO does a fair job explaining the decrease. I went back and read the sales agreement between ACMI and Leica. Leica has stated its intention to purchase at least 200 AccCell systems form ACMI before May 23, 1998 at between $8,500 and $9,100 for distrubition outside the United States. Therefore, I believe we should start seeing some international sales within the near future. This along with the higher than normal backlog of microbiology orders may bode for a positive suprise next quarter. The company certainly hasn't done anything to raise expectations.

It should also be noted that all four companies going after this segment of the market did not meet their estimated earnings for the quarter ending Sept. 30.

NSIX reported losses of $9,244,000 ($0.30/share) on revenues of $2,526,00. NPTH reported losses of $5,938,849 ($0.41/share) on revenues of $3,109,044. CYTC reported losses of $6,299,000 ($0.31/share) on revenues of $7,011,000. ACMI reported losses of $3,087,676 ($0.14/share) on revenues of $4,914,004.

They closed today as follows: ACMI @ 1 29/32, NPTH @ 17 7/8, NSIX @ 4 1/2, and CYTC @ 23 5/8.

I believe that most of the drop in ACMI is related to the general market sell off. At this point I am considering lowering my target to $4.00 by the end of the year. 1998 should still be a good year. Short term, I am not sure what will happen. NSIX reported a negative surprise before the opening bell and still traded up most of the day until the sell off late in the day.
