Coal fired replacement has been mandated in Ontario and well on track.. Maybe Alberta should build more NG fired plants since it relies heavily on coal now (Transalta). especially if US exports may decline..

que, thanks for your thoughts as always. I would think that it would be easier to look at the amount of reduced coal usage vs. the increased natty usage. Regarding the use of coal in electricity generation, it would seem to me that it wouldn't make much sense to run one of those plants at, say, half capacity -- you either keep it going to the max or shut it down entirely. If so, all you would have to do is track which coal-supplied electric plants are currently shuttered.

BTW, I meant to ask a follow-up about the winter weather forecasts. Based on what you can recall, at what point do the seasonal forecasts typically tend to converge to a consensus?
