RW, > These guys are sucking the Republican party dry

Like I said, I disagree. I think they're gathering up the scraps left by a GOP in disarray. All thanks to Bush.

> If you've listened to Rush for a while you know he gets more crazy with his claims every day.

Well yeah. I was just listening to Rush this morning gloating about Chicago losing its bid for the 2016 Olympics. Not once did Rush mention his own prediction that Obama only flew to Copenhagen because Chicago already won.

> It's not just bad for the Reps, it's bad for the country.

What, no mention of the left-wing idiots like Michael Moore and Whoopi "It wasn't rape-rape" Goldberg?

"But Brooks is right... attracting attention doesn't translate to the voting booth."

A lot of Rush listeners are like you John. They tune in for the sheer spectacle of the Rush craziness, knowing that whatever he spews that day will be re-spewed for days on the internet by his loyal dittoheads without arguments of their own. If it is crazy enough, it will even be noted by the MSM.

Whereupon, a few hundred or thousand more independents will decide to vote (D) next time.

"These guys are sucking the Republican party dry; putting them to the right of notorious nuts like the John Birch Society. "

Not totally true. Some, like Beck, are riding the waves of the conspiracy buffs. And that doesn't really play well for the Republican party. Note that recently Beck has been railing against corporate control of Washington. Which gives me some pause, I have to admit. I think that is the case, but being on the same crazy train as Beck is enough to make me reconsider...
