Really? I thought racism was a defect only found in the melanin-deficient [particularly the english speaking variety] <Wasn't just the white kids I had problems with growing up.. Chinese can be very racist also.. also IMVH..experience>

Well, we live and learn.

BTW, if you think it was tough for Chinese, you should have a go at being female 100 years ago. Or how about homosexual? Or Catholic. Or Jewish. Or tall. Or short. Or anything. We the melanin deficient copped our share of racist attacks too. Visit a Maori island without sufficient defences and be turned into hangi!! Captain Cook was cooked in Hawaii [eaten anyway - maybe the skipped the cooking part]. Visit the Amazon this century and be boarded and murdered by Brazilian racists. Right now, today, in NZ, Maoris are legally ascendant with many racial laws in their favour, and white people are a sub class [we don't have to actually carry pass books yet and we are not eaten, but we are enslaved with our money confiscated and transferred to Maoridom].

It looks as though you are trying to make yourself better than me: <Unfortunately you cannot really understand the racism against Chinese..IMVHO.. Acquaintances do not count.. Accident of birth .. I can .. and similarly I guess I can never fully understand the Black perspective.. > I can't really understand racism against Chinese but you can nearly fully understand "the Black perspective" ... yes, sure... excellent...you are clearly superior.

BS, don't forget that the so-called racism you experienced was directed against you and it's impossible to separate what component of it was simply racism and what component of it was related to your particular person. When we see a bad driver here, and we see a Chinese driver, we say "Bloody Chinese" but it's not that the person is Chinese so much as that they were doing bad driving. If the person affected was Chinese, they'd check and say "Bloody woman driver". If they were a Chinese female driver, they'd say "Stupid old fool". If they were an old, female, Chinese driver, they'd find some other generalisation with which to pigeon hole them.

Racism, sexism, religionism and so on should keep us amused for centuries to come.

I was attacked enough growing up, and not just verbally with some names. I mean literal physical assaults, being taken captive, with whipping with wire and death threats. Being called names must be really awful.

World university rankings (according to somebody):
topuniversities.com

China is starting to emerge, with the best at 49 and 52 on the list, but still some way behind the top Japanese universities at 22, 25 and 43. Brazil isn't in the top 200 yet, in fact the only Latin American entry is Mexico at 190. Australia is very impressive, with 6 in the top 50, the best (ANU) at 17.

Elmat will now explain how wayo determined the rankings, and that universities are useless anyway.
