You are not too far off in your assessment but there is slightly more to it, than that. As soon as one says that Christians simply believe in Jesus you are instantly faced with the question of who Jesus is and what did he do? To say that one is trusting in Jesus; begs the question: "what are you trusting Him for?" The basic doctrines of Christianity are not that complex. The rub comes, when one who claims to be a follower of Jesus the Messiah actively denies one of the major planks that uphold the gospel like the divinity of Jesus, the bodily resurrection or substitutionary atonement.

The sad thing (for you) is that you apparently know who and what you are rejecting. This can only result to increase your judgment in the end.

BTW: Atheists don't need to take drugs to render them stupefied. They are that way naturally. ;)

Makes sense... altough I'm sure it's a lot more "intersting" and "perverted fun" to think of yourself as "a better Chrisian" or "more godly" by losing yourself in Dogma and Ritual and noticing how others aren't as "holy" as you:

Tao Te Ching 38
When the Tao is lost, there is goodness.
When goodness is lost, there is morality.
When morality is lost, there is ritual.
Ritual is the husk of true faith,
the beginning of chaos.

Therefore the Master concerns himself
with the depths and not the surface,
with the fruit and not the flower.
He has no will of his own.
He dwells in reality,
and lets all illusions go.

You can find the same teaching by Christ himself (in different words of course Greg!) without even looking... it's right on the lawn of the Church where I did some of my RCIA:

Imagine THAT!
