Profits,

I agree with you. If AMD succeeds to ship 2 millions K6 during this quarter to fulfil its short term goal, AMD will be back to 40s or even make new heights in the next January.

The real trouble for AMD is coming from Cyrix, not Intel this time. Cyrix is going to tape out their new processors, MXi, and is creating a brand new architecture to bring PC to another performance level. The new MXi motherboard has 128-bit data-path and 66Mhz PCI bus speed. Simply with these two features, the system performance will be enhanced significantly. It is the time for AMD to leave their pride at home to work closely with Cyrix.

Re -- The goal is to ship 2 million processors and if that happens they'll be very profitable for the quarter.

If Jerry's optimistic outlook is right. With 2 mil mpu's, they will barely breakeven, not to mention what the sudden lack of sales in flash and other AMD's SE Asia products will cause to AMD's profits.

Remember at best a breakeven Q.
